  • Resumen
    • The increasing of diabetes rates in the world could hav e something to do with increasing of sugar consumption. Naturistic medicine offers a good treatment, specially for diabetes type 2, but also for type l. Diet is the main resource, jointly with phytotherapy and hidrotherapy. The author, who directs a naturistic clinic in Chile, explains in detail the kind of diet given to his diabetic patients, formed basically by green salades, vegetables and whole cereals. Acid and citric fruits, are given too. Dietetic fiber plays a remarcable rol in control of glycemia levels, specially to control the evening escapes. This was demonstrated by a study with two groups of diabetic patients in an university hospital;

      one of them received the traditional diet; the other received a vegeta·rian diet with abundant fibre. The glycemia levels in the second group were normal and stable, of about 120-130 mg, and without evening escapes.

      Hypoglicemic plants are the second therapeutic weapon in diabetes treatment, specially if sorne of them are combinated.

      A clinical case of healing of diabetic foot is related he re. The healing taked place in the last moment, when the amputation was ready to happen. It could be avoided by a whole treatment with wreappers of fresh medicinal plants -matico (Buddleja globosa), and plantain (Plantago major)-envolving the foot, and with mud compress over the wreapper.
