  • The article discusses the U.S. electric grid and argues that the electric grid infrastructure requires financial support and modernization, including in regard to government investment for the electric grid. An overview of the relationship between electric utilities and peak demand for electricity, including in regard to their management of peak demand, is provided. An overview of the role that natural disasters play in U.S. electric power outages, including in regard to the 2012 Hurricane Sandy's causing trees to fall on electric power lines, is also provided.
