  • The article presents a historical overview of Mannerism in Italy, focusing on the works of painters Polidoro da Caravaggio and Jacopo Pontormo. Special attention is given to the influence of social changes on the artists' works, particularly the Sack of Rome by imperial troops in 1527 and the plague in Florence in 1522-1523, including references to religious art, religious life in Florence, Italy, and Christian iconography.
