  • The article discusses late 16th and early 17th century history of Rome, Italy relating to the practice of abortion to terminate unwanted pregnancies. Topics discussed include social perspectives on abortion held by men of the non-elite classes, men's and women's involvement and legal culpability in obtaining abortions, and historical source material from criminal trials during this time.
