  • The article discusses the history of Rome, Italy during the 17th century, with a focus on the demographics and social role of the male population of the city. Topics discussed include the imbalance between the numbers of men and women in Rome during this time, historical sources on this period including the records of parish priests on religious participation, and areas in Rome which had higher ratios and concentrations of men during this time.
