  • The article presents poetry criticism of the poems "Deh, havess’io quella terribil tromba" and "Frottola di Maestro Pasquino (Pax vobis, brigate)," by Italian poet Pietro Aretino. Topics discussed include the diverging tones of the poems - one comic, one elegiac, the personal reaction of Aretino to the historical Sack of Rome in the 16th century, and the role of gender in the works.
