In this article the author examines and discusses the historical attitudes expressed about the appearance of the Villa Medici located near the Italian town of Fiesole and its surrounding landscape. According to the author the terrain of Fiesole represented an ideal manifestation of the Renaissance notion of aristocratic life in a Tuscan villa. Other topics include the will of aristocrat Giovanni di Cosimo de' Medici, the relationship of patron to building, and donations to churches and convents.
