Resumen de Rembrandt's Injustice of Piso

Paul Taylor

  • The article discusses the painting "The Injustice of Piso" by Dutch painter Rembrandt. In particular, it analyzes the subject matter of the piece as established but its iconography. Previous scholarship on the subject is described, especially that by Dutch art historian Josua Bruyn. The elements of the painting are described and the symbolism addressed. The architecture depicted in the piece is also addressed. The author argues for an explanation of the painting based on a passage from the Roman author Seneca the Younger's book in Latin "De ira" about anger.
