Resumen de Modieuze ontwikkelingen in het interieur in 1672 Raamgordijnen en ander nieuws

C. Willemijn Fock

  • A passage from Le Mercure Galant from summer 1672 backs up the writer's earlier findings in “Reality of Illusion. The image of the Dutch interior in seventeenth century painting,” an article that appeared in the 1998 issue of Oud Holland, examining the rise of the custom of hanging curtains on both sides of windows instead of only one. The passage suggests that this was the latest fashion in Paris at that particular moment. Such a development in fashion could, therefore, only have entered the Dutch scene slowly after that date.
