  • Resumen
    • The article discusses the relationship between 17th-century Dutch art and 18th-19th-century French troubadour painting. The author describes the "style troubadour," developed by students of Neo-Classical painter Jacques-Louis David and featuring medieval and early modern subjects, suggesting that the artists were inspired by 17th-century Dutch genre painting. The author focuses on troubadour painters François-Marius Granet and Louis-Nicolas-Philippe-Auguste de Forbin from Aix-en-Provence, France, and Fleury Richard and Pierre Révoil, from Lyon, France. Specific topics include the Dutch genre painters the "fijnschilders" including Gerard Dou, painting technique in southern France compared to Paris, France, and the influence of color in Dutch art on troubadour painting.
