Algunas consideraciones sobre la tesis aristotélica "el ente no es un género’"

    El presente trabajo pretende, en primer lugar, insertar la tesis ‘el ente no es un género’ en el marco de un conjunto de tesis aristotélicas al que pertenecen también aquellas que establecen que el ente no puede constituir, o formar parte de, una definición o un propio, ni ser un accidente, ni constituir, o formar parte de, diferencias o especies de un género. Centrándose en la primera de estas tesis, se propone, en segundo lugar, destacar los lugares del corpus aristotelicum en que ésta se encuentra, explícitamente o implicada por otras aserciones. En tercer lugar, procura determinar el valor contextual de la argumentación aristotélica presentada en su defensa. Finalmente, intenta determinar el alcance y las implicancias epistemológico-filosóficas de esta tesis.

    The present article aims, firstly, to insert the thesis ‘Being is not a genus’ within the framework of a set of Aristotelian theses which also includes those that establish that Being cannot constitute, or form part of, a definition or a proprium, neither be an accident, nor constitute, or form part of, differences or species of a genus. Focusing on the first of these theses, it proposes, secondly, to highlight the passages of the corpus aristotelicum in which it is found, either explicitly or implied by other assertions. Thirdly, it intends to determine the contextual value of the Aristotelian arguments in its defense. Finally, it aims to determine the extent and the epistemological and philosophical implications of this thesis.
