  • The article looks at the drawing technique of Dutch painter Willem van Mieris (1662-1747). Particular focus is given to a pair of preliminary drawings, representing the alleged rape of the semi-legendary Roman female Lucretia by Sextus Tarquinius, son of the last king of Rome Lucius Tarquinius Superbus. An analysis of the drawings’ compositions is presented.
