  • The article juxtaposes two representations of the late Italian Renaissance artist Caravaggio’s painting "Supper at Emmaus". One of the artworks is a drawing from the Old Master European collection at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and the other is a painting on copper, from a private collection in Germany. The author attributes the drawing to 17th century German artist Adam Elsheimer. The representation of light effects in Elsheimer’s works is also discussed.
