Resumen de Orígenes del turismo en España: las aguas de la vida

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar cuáles fueron los orígenes del turismo en España entre finales del siglo XVIII y buena parte del siglo XIX, procurando hacer una revisión bibliográfica que atienda a las aportaciones que diferentes especialistas han hecho en los últimos años. En concreto, se pretende abordar el fenómeno del termalismo, tratando de reflexionar sobre su aportación a dichos orígenes, dado el número de aguas termales existentes en España y cómo, a partir de ellas, se fue articulando una incipiente industria termal. Al mismo tiempo, hay que prestar atención al surgimiento del turismo de ola, centrándonos en la promoción de destinos costeros tales como San Sebastián o Santander. A partir de estos postulados se procura hacer una reflexión final sobre lo que han sido dichos orígenes con vistas a tener una mejor comprensión de lo que luego fue el desarrollo turístico en la España de la segunda mitad del siglo XX.

The aim of this paper is to analyse what were the origins of tourism in Spain between the end of the 18th Century and much of the 19th Century, seeking to do a literature review which satisfies the contributions made by various specialists in recent years. In particular, it aims to address the phenomenon of thermalism, trying to reflect on its contribution to these origins, given the number of hot springs in Spain and how, from them, was articulating an incipient thermal industry. At the same time, it should pay attention to the emergence of tourism of wave, focusing on the promotion of coastal destinations such as San Sebastián and Santander. From these postulates do a final reflection on what have been such origins in order to have a better understanding of what then it was the development of tourism in the Spain of the second half of the 20th Century.
