  • The article discusses the drawing "Saint Barbara with Saints Anthony Abbot and Roch" by the 16th century Italian artist Paolo Farinati. The author argues that the drawing is a modelli, or preparatory study, for a banner the artist designed for the Confraternità degli Bombardieri, or the Confraternity of the Artillerymen, in Verona, Italy. The author describes the drawing in detail and provides information regarding the commission. Also discussed is information gleaned from the artist's giornale, or account book.
