  • A special section on Raphael on the occasion of “Raphael: From Urbino to Rome,” an exhibition at the National Gallery, London, through January 16, 2005. The section includes an introduction and articles on new discoveries concerning Raphael's Ansidei altarpiece in the National Gallery; the role of Lorenzo Lotto as Raphael's collaborator in the decoration of the Stanza di Eliodoro in the Vatican, Rome; new documents concerning the activities of Raphael and his patrons in Perugia, Italy; investigations made into the altered background of Raphael's Portrait of Pope Julius IIin the National Gallery; and the significance of Raphael's possession of a Greek sculpture of Philemon.
