Resumen de The patron for Pordenone's frescos on Palazzo Talenti d'Anna, Venice

Blake De Maria

  • Previously unpublished archival material demonstrates that the patron of Pordenone's frescoes on the facade of the Palazzo Talenti in Venice, Italy, was Lodovico Talenti. Modern scholars have traditionally attributed the commission of this work to Martino d'Anna, a wealthy merchant; according to this theory, d'Anna settled in Venice, purchased Talenti's recently built palace, and hired Giovanni Antonio de' Sacchis, called Pordenone, to fresco its facade. However, if, as the evidence suggests, d'Anna purchased Palazzo Talenti on December 7, 1538, then Pordenone's departure from Venice predated this acquisition by a full three months, demonstrating that the patron of the frescoes was in fact Talenti.
