  • Resumen
    • Three previously unpublished letters to Pissarro from Théodore Duret, the collector and early historian of the Impressionists, clarify the content of the only four letters from Pissarro that seem to have survived from the period in 1870–71, when he sought refuge in England. Taken together, these letters shed some light on Jules Berthel, who acquired one of Pissarro's paintings of London and was until now known only as the first owner in that picture's provenance. The writer goes on to discuss what is revealed by the letters, which are included in an appendix.
