A memorandum signed “Luigi Celotti” provides information on a set of ten chairs, now widely distributed from Abbotsford, England, to Australia. The first part of the memorandum claims that the chairs were created by celebrated artist Brustolon, were owned by the patrician Venetian family of Fini, and were in the Palazzo Fini in Venice, Italy. If the “Brustolon” chairs were indeed from Palazzo Fini, it is likely that they were commissioned by Vincenzo Fini, who inherited the palace in 1685, a date that fits well with Brustolon's presumed return to Venice, thereby providing the chairs with an early place in his oeuvre.
