A letter from Walter Sickert to Mrs Hugh Hammersley suggests a new date for Sickert's painting of the New Bedford Music Hall in Camden Hall, now in Leeds City Art Gallery in Leeds, England. Over the past 60 years, the painting in Leeds has been consistently published as being part of a cycle of New Bedford views commissioned by American painter Ethel Sands in 1914, and painted by Sickert in 1915. The size of a painting of the New Bedford mentioned in the letter, dated December 1907, corresponds only to one Sickert painting: The painting in Leeds City Art Gallery.
