A presentation of a previously unpublished sheet (private collection, New York) of studies by Paolo Veronese. The studies are of unusual documentary and artistic interest because they are the only certain preliminary studies for the famous frescoes that Veronese executed for brothers Daniele and Marcantonio Barbaro in their Villa Barbaro at Maser, in Italy's Veneto region. The sheet also includes major studies—in fact the first known—for Veronese's monumental painting of David Anointed by Samuel (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna).
