  • The article discusses the 1510s devotional painting "Madonna in the rosary" by German painter Gert van Lon, which was donated as an altarpiece to the Chapel of King's College in Cambridge, England by designer Charles Robert Ashbee, who also designed a woodwork frame for the painting. The author traces the provenance of the painting and describes Ashbee's time at King's College in the 1880s. Also discussed is Ashbee's role in the Arts and Crafts movement.
