  Históricamente las ciudades y sus infraestructuras verdes han mostrado un carácter dinámico y diverso. El crecimiento de la agricultura urbana está cada vez más relacionado con las tendencias hacia un sistema alimentario y un entorno más saludables y sustentables. Esto invita a repensar los espacios urbanos y a analizar sus dinámicas endógenas, así como la interacción espacial de los centros urbanos densamente poblados y los espacios verdes abiertos. Estos espacios representan funciones y una conectividad espacial, social y activamente construidas. Por ello es un reto importante desarrollar e implementar políticas integradas que apoyen estas nuevas prácticas.

  Historically cities and urban green infrastructures showed a diverse and dynamic character. The rise of urban agriculture is increasingly embedded in urban practices that aim to fashion a more sustainable and healthy city-region and food provisioning food system. This invites to rethink city-spaces and analyze grassroots dynamics as the spatial interweaving of densely populated urban centres and green open space, which represent actively, socially constructed functionalities and multi-spatial connectivity. Developing and implementing integrated policies to support these new practices is a major challenge.
