Este artículo pretende destacar la figura de Federico de Onís como pieza clave en los comienzos de la difusión de la lengua y cultura españolas en entornos académicos e institucionales en un momento también importante para dicho proceso, como fueron los comienzos del Siglo XX.

    United States represents the image of a country built by immigrants of different origins. Mainly by Anglos and Hispanic. The intention of this article is to throw some light onto the figure of Federico de Onís as keystone in the beginning of the promotion of the Spanish language and Spanish culture in academic and institutional environment. Not of less importance than the moment in which this occurs: the beginning of the XX Century.
