  • The article discusses the rediscovery at Winchester College in England of an altarpiece of the "Annunciation" painted by François Lemoyne in 1727. The painting, which was presumed to be lost, was given to the college in 1729 by Dr. John Burton, then serving as the headmaster. The author speculates that Burton may have commissioned the painting from Lemoyne in Paris, France in 1727.
