  • The article discusses 18th-century Italian painter Bernardo Bellotto's 1740s career in Florence, Italy, and the role of artist Anton Maria Zanetti the Elder in promoting Bellotto. The author discusses nobleman Andrea Gerini's invitation for Bellotto to visit Tuscany and discusses Zanetti as an artistic advisor to Gerini. Other topics include Bellotto's Venetian-style view, or "vedute," paintings and the possible employment of artist Giuseppe Zocchi by Gerini.
