  • The author discusses the possibility that the painting "Portrait of a man," by Titian and part of the collection of the National Gallery, London, England, is the painting described by 16th-century art historian Giorgio Vasari as "gentiluomo da Ca' Barbarigo." The author traces the provenance of the painting and suggests that it depicts Gerolamo Barbarigo. Also discussed is the "looking over the shoulder" portrait type.
