  • The article discusses the acquisition of the painting “Holy Family with St. John the Baptist,” by Perino del Vaga, by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The author describes the attribution of the painting to Perino in 2011 and suggests that the painting dates to the 1520s. The author compares the painting to other works by Perino including the “Pietà” fresco in S. Stefano del Cacco, Rome, Italy and 1520s drawings of the Holy Family. The author suggests that the painting has a Florentine patron.
