  • Resumen
    • An analysis of a miniature appearing in an unpublished 15th-century manuscript that was probably made by an artist very close to Fra Angelico, working in collaboration with the miniaturist Battista di Biagio Sanguigni. The image in question is an initial “T,” decorated with the image of Saint Jerome. This piece has prompted the re-examination of the miniature production of Angelico and his circle in the 1440s and 1450s, leading to the identification of the precise iconography of the penitent Saint Jerome adopted by Angelico. The author compares the miniature to a number of other works in order to attribute it to an artist in Angelico's immediate circle, and to link its commission to the Hieronymite Foundation in Fiesole, Italy.
