  • Dramatist Ariel Dorfman replies to three commentaries on his play Picasso's Closet, the text of which is presented in this issue. Dorfman elaborates on the concerns that urged him to originally write the play, and he reflects on discussants' suggestions. He considers such issues as the experience of exile under tyranny, the transformative power of art, and the challenges facing literary works dealing with past events.
