  • Resumen
    • Part of a special section on money, power, and the history of art. The writer considers the power relations implicit in all dealings between art historians and their objects of inquiry. She observes that insofar as art historians work with owned objects, their engagement in art history is imbricated in the financial. She believes that it is essential for the well-being of the discipline that there continue to be deconstruction of the financial networks in which art historians are inevitably caught and analysis of the institutional power relations that determine so much of the lives of art historians. She also argues that the discipline can benefit from a more rigorously self-reflexixe relationship with its own procedures.
