Testimonis arqueològics i patrimonials de la Guerra Civil a Catalunya

    Este artículo pretende mostrar la gran variedad de vestigios relacionados con la Guerra Civil española que se están haciendo públicos, ya sea a través se iniciativas patrimoniales o de informaciones en los medios de comunicación. Hemos elaborado una recopilación de tales elementos patrimoniales en el ámbito de Catalunya, completando los artículos monográficos de este dossier que tratan de la Batalla del Ebro y del Museo del Exilio de la Jonquera.

    ¿A qué se debe este interés social por la Guerra Civil que se manifiesta en los últimos años? ¿Justo ahora se empiezan a despertar las conciencias? Teniendo en cuenta que la guerra no la ganó ni la democracia, ni las libertades civiles, como pasó en Europa en 1945, ¿podemos afirmar que recuperar la memoria histórica forma parte de la última fase de aquella guerra? Los elementos patrimoniales que se están investigando, o que se difunden a través de técnicas diversas, son: los refugios antiaéreos, los búnkeres de la costa, el campamento de Instrucción Militar de Pujalt (Anoia), el consulado de la URSS en Barcelona durante la Guerra Civil, la arqueología militar de Pallars, la Batalla del Ebro y la línea de los Pirineos.El estado de desarrollo de los diferentes proyectos es heterogéneo y, a menudo, depende de la iniciativa particular.

    Pero nos hemos de preguntar si esta recuperación de la memoria histórica de la Guerra Civil es real o sólo incipiente y el camino mucho más largo.

    The article describes the great variety of vestiges from the Spanish Civil War now coming to light through heritage initiatives or from news in the media. Our compilation of these heritage elements in Catalonia complements other monographic articles in this dossier on the Battle for the Ebro and the Museum of Exile at La Jonquera.

    But why this sudden interest in the Civil War? Is it only now that the collective social conscience is beginning to stir? Unlike the European situation after 1945, our war unshered in neither democracy nor civils rights. Could we not then see this recent recovery of historical memory as just the final phase of our war? The heritage elements currently being researched and disseminated using a variety of techniques are: air-raid shelters, coastal bunkers, the Military Training camp at Pujalt (Anoia), the USSR consulate in Barcelona during the civil war, the military archaeology of Pallars, the Battle for the Ebro and the Pyrenees as a frontier. The projects themselves are at varying stages of development and are often the result of initiatives by private individuals.

    But what is not yet clear is whether this recovery of historical memory is a real phenomenon, or only the first step in a process with a very long way still to go.
