  • The article discusses imagery associated with the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City's World Trade Center within the photographic public exhibitions "Archive" created by German artist Gerhard Richter. The author argues that the World Trade Center photographs imbue the other photographs within "Archive" with deeper meaning. World Trade Center imagery is related to abstract images within "Archive" depicting the microscopic structure of silicate and strontium. The ways in which "Atlas" has influence other exhibits and sculpture dealing with September 11 are also explained.
