A newly discovered small Renaissance bronze statue produced in the Vischer-Werkstatt in Nuremberg, Germany, and now in London's Victoria & Albert Museum, is presented. The 13.8-cm-tall piece, which dates from around 1520, shows a half-naked buxom woman reading from a large book resting in her lap. The youngish woman has a gown loosely draped over her shoulder and legs. She holds the book open with her right hand and turns to look to the side, as though responding to an interlocutor.
