    Utilizando-se da Metodologia Q, este estudo investigou o que motiva universitários que persistem no estudo de inglês além das exigências dos seus cursos. Apesar das posições altamente correlacionadas, a distribuição das 54 afirmações por esse grupo de universitários revelou cinco pontos de vista distintos, cada um refletindo uma percepção única da importância da língua inglesa em sua vida futura: Os Amantes da Língua, os Caçadores de um Diferencial, os Aspirantes à Comunicação Precisa e Adequada, os Investidores em Necessidade Profissional e os Exploradores da Presença do Inglês no Brasil.

    Using the Q Methodology, this study investigated the underlying motivations of Brazilian university students who persist in the study of English beyond what is required for their courses. Despite the high correlation of their points of view, the sorting of the 54 statements revealed five clearly distinct points of view, each reflecting a unique perception of the importance of English in their future: the Lovers of the Language, the Hunters of a Differential, those who Aspire to Precise and Appropriate Communication, the Investors in Professional Needs, and the Explorers of the Presence of English in Brazil.
