  • The writer discusses Parmigianino's frescos of Fontanellato, in particular a nymph whose lower body has been damaged for centuries. Restorers and artists have been unable to satisfactorily solve the problem of the nymph's pose. The writer suggests that a sculpture of a hermaphrodite in the Museo Archeologico, Venice, may give an idea of the grace of the nymph in its original state.
