  • The writer discusses Grundformen von Häusern (The basic forms of houses), a small sketch by Hermann Muthesius added to the second edition (1917) of his book Wie baue ich mein Haus? (How do I build my house?). The abstract, almost schematic line drawing shows ten roof types seen from above. It is a prototype of Muthesius's lifelong aim as author and architect to bring together architectonic practice and theoretical codification.
