  • Resumen
    • A drawing in the British Museum, London, is a prospectus for Federico Zuccaro's 1580–85 decorative scheme for the Cappella Paolina in the Vatican, Rome. This drawing is among the few surviving visual documents of the artist's project and currently the only known drawing of the stucco decorations of the chapel's vault. It has tentatively been attributed to Girolamo Bedoli, but this can now be conclusively dismissed on the basis of chronology. In fact, it is a design for, rather than a study after, the vault's decoration, and it was executed—probably by a shop hand under Zuccaro's guidance—for presentation to the patron or an iconographic advisor. It serves as a means of helping distinguish the original decoration from later changes and additions.
