Resumen de La politique artistique allemande en France, 1924-1933

Marie Gispert

  • An essay on the lack of German art in France during the period 1924–33. The writer maintains that the reluctance of French nationalists to showcase work by German artists contributed to the worsening relations between both countries during this period. He also argues that the German authorities were partly responsible: Because they believed that music and not painting was the most German of all the art forms, they deliberately deprived exhibitions of the funding they needed to be successful.
