Resumen de Antoine Boullier, orfèvre parisien et "infatigable producteur"

Yves Carlier

  • A discussion of the career and output of Parisian goldsmith Antoine Boullier. Born in Châteauroux, Boullier learned his craft from his father before moving to Paris to complete his studies. He went on to work for some of the most important families in France and Europe. He withdrew partially from his trade during the Revolution, becoming a farmer. He subsequently reassumed the direction of his workshop in the early 19th century, retiring at the beginning of the Restoration. Because his career was remarkably long, from 1776 to 1818, his work provides an excellent overview of the evolution of the Neoclassical style in the decorative arts. An annex reproduces a period document that shows all of the models used by Boullier on the eve of the Revolution.
