Resumen de Maurice Denis, Victor Borissov-Moussatov et La Rose bleue

Anastasia Zelvenskaïa,

  • French artist Maurice Denis had a considerable influence on the development of Russian Symbolism. Russian critics, while in general fairly harsh concerning Denis's turn to neo-Classicism, were almost unanimous in admiring his early work. Denis received a warm welcome when he visited Russia in 1909, and was one of several French artists who influenced the first generation of Russian Symbolists. The second generation of Russian Symbolists, notably the Rose Bleue group, were in turn influenced by both the first generation of Russian Symbolists and Western artists such as Denis. Denis's influence is particularly evident in terms of a quest for beauty and spirituality, a decorative synthesis, a balance of forms, and harmonious use of color.
