The Judgment of Salomon (private collection) is the first major easel painting that can be attributed to Rémy Vuibert. The painting is mentioned in the posthumous inventory of the Marquis Vincenzo Giustiniani. It was painted around 1635 and became famous in the 18th century when it was attributed to Nicolas Poussin. The writer goes on to discuss the painting's iconography, its place in the Marquis's commissions for his Roman palazzo, and its role in determining the attribution of a first group of easel paintings to Vuibert.
