  • Resumen
    • Installed in the Hotel Biron, rue de Varenne in Paris, the Musée Rodin was inaugurated on august 4, 1919, thus two years after Rodin's death. The arreangement of the works was due to Léonce Bénédite, who was close to the artist in the last years of his life and was the first curator of the museum. While seeking to privilege a classical image of Rodin, he wanted to give as large a vision of the artist as possible. It was the first time since the 1900 exhibition at Alma that the artist's work was presented in its entirety, including the Porte de l'Enfer (Gates of Hell). In addition, this was the museum as it was known to the artists of the 20th century, all those, beginning with alberto Giacometti, who only had contact with Rodin through his work, Today, therefore, since a renovation is announced, it is necessary to examine the reasons behind the options taken in 1919.
