  • Resumen
    • The study of the work of Antoine Desgodets sheds new light on the very conception of religious architecture in the first half of the Enlightenment. Desgodets, a professor at the Royal Academy of Architecture, was the only architect and theoretician to deal with religious architecture in a very precise manner. In his Traité de la Commodité and Loix des Bâtiments (1748), he examines architectural (architectural layout, arrangement, and solidity of places of worship) and practical (the financing of the churches' construction and maintenance) aspects of churches.
