  Dos son los objetivos básicos que perseguimos con el presente trabajo; por un lado, conocer quiénes fueron los agentes jurisdiccionales que asumieron la alcaldía mayor de Don Benito, en tierras extremeñas, en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII; por otro, realizar un chequeo a las prácticas de gobierno, la economía y el urbanismo del segundo núcleo de población más importante de Extremadura en las postrimerías del siglo, así como analizar las medidas que se adoptaron, o bien se recomendó aplicar, para mejorar la situación general de sus vecinos

  There are two basic objectives we are pursuing with this work; on the one hand, knowing who were the judicial officers that took the alcaldía mayor of Don Benito, in Extremadura, in the second half of the 18th century; on the other hand, make a check to the practices of government, economy and urbanism of the second most important village of Extremadura in the end of the century, and analyze the measures that taken or recommended to apply to improve general situation of their habitants.
