Resumen de Nicolas de Plattemontagne au musée Cerralbo de Madrid

Anna Reuter Paredes

  • A number of unpublished studies and drawings in the Cerralbo Museum, Madrid, can be attributed to the painter and engraver Nicolas de Plattemontagne. The drawings are in fact preparatory drawings for religious and allegorical works, as well as for a portrait that can be dated to around 1658. The drawings relate to key works in Plattemontagne's career: they include preparatory drawings for Apollon favorisant les Arts, Plattemontagne's reception piece presented in early 1665 to the Académie Royale de Peinture et Sculpture; and the remarkable partial study for La Conversion du Géolier de Saint Paul, a canvas commissioned by the corporation of goldsmiths of Paris for the cathedral of Notre Dame.
