The colloquium “De la reconstruction du château de Berlin à la reconstruction des Tuileries” at the Sorbonne, Paris, on September 23, 2008, was the latest event organized by the group for the reconstruction of the Tuileries palace in Paris. The group has two arguments: historical (the importance of the Tuileries to France's history) and aesthetic (it would close the gap in the Carrousel courtyard). A fairly precise plan has now taken shape, with a private company being proposed to build a 20,000-square-meter building on state land (which would include a new underground car park). The writer goes on to discuss the historical and heritage issues raised by this project.
