A discussion of the central portal in the church of Notre Dame of Caudebec-en-Caux in Normandy, France. The portal is set in a facade that dates from the 1520s. Its two arches date from the beginning of the 15th century and depict musical angels and Apostles. The decorative foliage and other elements are in the tradition of the international Gothic style from the very early 15th century. In all likelihood, the arches of the first western portal, which belonged to the lower parts of the church built between about 1426 and 1450, were reused for the central portal. The subsisting arches thus provide rare evidence of sculpture in Normandy during the English occupation.
