Resumen de Le vitrail hollandais et la Réforme

Zsuzsanna van Ruyven-Zeman

  • A discussion of Dutch stained glass during the Reformation. In the Netherlands, the 16th century was one of political and religious upheaval which saw the popular uprising known as Iconoclasm (1566) and the start of the Eighty Years' War. The latter led to the establishment of the Dutch Republic, in which Calvinism was the favored religion. Protestant themes in stained-glass iconography are not limited to church windows but also take in glass panels for private use and the prints that served as their models. The writer goes on to discuss in particular the work of brothers Dirck and Wouter Crabeth, and Maarten Jacobszoon van Heemskerck.
