Over the past few years, there has been a great change in the management of insurance entities. The growing complexity of risks as well as a greater interest in policyholder protection have generated the necessity to improve the existing regulation concerning insurance companies. Solvency II comes to fill the empty spaces from the previous directive in terms of valuation of assets and liabilities, risk management, reporting and supervision, paving the way for the implementation of the famous Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). Allocating an insurance company's capital is one of the stages of an ERM process.
